Our family is offering for sale our treasured Napoleonic collection, carefully compiled over the past 25 years via purchases from private collections, brokers, and travels in France.  This unique collection consists of more than 45 individual pieces related to the First Empire, and is divided into two sections: 1) Artifacts/antiques/art/collectibles and 2) a Napoleonic library.

The first section of the collection, Napoleonic: Artifacts, Antiques, Art, and Collectibles, includes items such as an original officer’s gorget (photo included); a 26-inch double-bladed artillery short sword and scabbard (photo included); a Right of Passage official government stamp with Napoleonic imperial eagle as the centerpiece (brass with wooden handle) (photo included); and a portrait of Napoleon as a young officer in the Royalist army, framed in an antique wooden frame gilded with Royalist decorations.

The second section of the collection is an extensive Napoleonic library of more than 175 publications, including antique, rare, presentation, hard bound, perfect bound, and magazine formatted editions. The library is organized in seven categories: 1) Antique volumes (hard bound), 2) Rare miscellaneous (hard bound), 3) Presentation (hard bound), 4) Miscellaneous (hard bound), 5) Magazines, 6) Osprey Illustrated Men of War Series (perfect bound), and 7) Miscellaneous (soft cover perfect bound). Among the library’s highlights: A set of six antique, detailed, and illustrated volumes, The Life of Napoleon Bonaparte, by William Hazlin, published in 1900, as well as a rare work by Lord Rosebery published in 1901, Napoleon: The Last Phase. Also of special interest in the library is a volume on Napoleon published in 1924 and authored by Elie Faure, translated from the French by Jeffery E. Jeffrey.
